I have printed off the removal instructions from your site however the part that instructs me to double click on the FixSQ.reg file on my desktop so it can merge never does ask me to merge the items so I am afraid to go further with the directions. I keep getting pop ups in the bottom right of my computer that are alerting me to spyware alert. I also get a warning stating my computer may be infected with PSW.x-Vir spyware. Please help. I keep getting all kinds of dirty pop ups.

Hi there :whistling:

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hello :whistling:

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlog...processutil.htm

Next you should should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Hi, good job :whistling: Can You post me a Hijack log to look over and then do the following

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report along with a new hijackthis log.

and no I did not receive the message "If your compyter does not start automatically, please restart it manually" I did not receive any messages.

My computer seems to be running okay. At first it was a little slow but it seems to be doing a little better.
Thanks

(when all this other is done I have a question: I have several programs that start automatically when the computer does and I would rather they didn't. I'd like to keep them just not start automatically. Where do I go to stop that?)

Ok we are almost done , I just need to see 1 more log. And sure I Herses my general directions for disabling statup items but please dont do this until we are done :whistling:

Disable a startup item
  • Click start >>>> run
  • You will see an open box where you can type
  • Please type the following in msconfig
  • Click the startup tab at the top
  • Now look for and uncheck this item the item(s) you wish to disable
  • Click apply then close
  • It will ask if you want to restart, select yes
*Note* When you reboot you will be prompted with selective start-up box, be sure to check the "do not show this message again box"

Please run a scan with HijackThis and check the following lines for removal:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00320615-B6C2-40A6-8F99-F1C52D674FAD} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {466AF4AE-8819-60F2-3A8E-0AA9AE8B4C61} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\tdtjbzl.dll
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [epzjwnm.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\epzjwnm.dll,agpxqx
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mscheck] C:\WINDOWS\System32\explorer.exe

Now close ALL other open windows except for HijackThis and hit FIX CHECKED. Exit HijackThis.

Please download ComboFix and save it to your desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply.

Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
