Hi,

I had a bunch of problems on my laptop here and finally bought recommended antivirus software: XoftspySE.
After running this, many of my problems went away but a few still get through. For starters my webpage is still being hijacked despite the fact that I've set my homepage and search page preferences in XoftSpySE.

Other than that, I get a "System Alert" balloon popup from my system tray saying I have Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx and that I should click on that balloon to fix my problem by downloading "Official security software". When I click the balloon, a browser window opens at the "pesttrap.com" website.

There is one other grey window that pops up now and again telling me of another virus/trojan but I can't remember the name of it at the moment .... "Myzor" or something like that I think.

I guess these are all pretty recent since the software can't fix it.

Any help appreciated.

If you're still having trouble, We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and reply here with your log.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Here's the HJT log. FYI> Some progress made using a free version of AVG. Found something in PCODEC folder (trojan downloaders x 3 of them). I got rid of them and now have access to my homepage :whistling:

Hey to anyone reading this, if you're not using AVG as an option for spyware/virus detection removal, you should be. I recently downloaded it after paying quite a bit for a different one. AVG has since updated itself a number of times and wiped out my viruses! I went from popup mania and a hijacked homepage to a clear system in the past 48-72 hours. Just google AVG FREE (by Grisoft I think).

My 2 cents.
