Hi all :whistling:

I've recently downloaded Windows Live Messenger v. 8.0 as well as Messenger Plus! Live 4.01.240 ... and wasn't impressed with all the Zone Alarm issues it created.

I'd like to remove both entirely from my system. When I removed them from the add/remove menu and reinstalled... it seemed as though my system had saved some preferences (like my font colour, display picture)... this tells me the uninstall I did wasn't that complete afterall.

How can I uninstall WLM and Messenger Plus! Live ... completely?

OR

Clean the cache thingy.

Thanks muchly

Hi Nadia0001. Welcome to geeks to go, Why don't
you just do a systerm restore to a date before you
downloaded windows live messenger?

Hit,Start, all programs, Accessories, system tools, system
Restore, click on restore my computer to an earlier time, then
pick a date before the download. then click next.
hope that works for you.

Thanks so much for your reply :whistling: ... although unfortuntely it's come a bit too late.. as system restore only allows you to select a restore date maximum 1 week ago.. and I've had this issue a lil over a week!

so *shrugs*... unluckly for me.. I suppose.

Thanks for the help anyhow .

Hi Nasia0001. Here is some things to try.
First allways back up important files.
ccleaner is a nice program that will help you clean up
its freeware you can find it at ccleaner.com also you
can try, Clean out perefetch files
Start, run, type in, prefetch, hit enter, hit ctrl alt a, and
Delete all, (it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete
All items, tell it yes)

Click start, all programs, accessories, system tools,
disk cleanup, tick what you what to clean

Click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter
when it comes up it will tell you if you need to defrag, if you do it will take
a while to run. I do this every two or three weeks.
I hope this is a help to you. Dwight :whistling:

Or better yet, why don't you allow Zone Alarm to allow WLM 8.0 as a "safe-program". What I mean is allow it to run, go in Zone Alarm settings and see if you have it blocked or enabled. It's better to see what options you have instead of going to the last resort, and removing it.
