My computer starts up showing only 4 bit color and won't let me change the resolution or the color quality. Any ideas?

Right click on the desktop and go into Properties. Under Settings there is an Advanced tab at the bottom of the window. In there is another tab call Adapter. What video card is listed. I suspect your video driver has been corrupted, deleted, or uninstalled. This can be simply fixed by using the update tab in the Device Manager under Display. If you do not have the lastest drivers this is a good time to download and install them.
