Hello, and thank you for looking at my topic!

I recently bought a new comptuer with Windows Media Center Edition and wanted to get Cable TV on it. I am already a customer of the cable company but I was just reading about TV Tuners. HOw much do they cost? Which one do I want?

And is it free once I hook it up to my computer?

I was hoping to buy one tomorrow morning but I have no idea if I am going to have an additional monthly fee with it or how long it will take to hookup.

I was also wondering if any are wireless because I don't want to have to call in a cable person to re-wire a connection into my computer room.

P.S. I already have comcast service. I just dont want more wires coming from the walls :-)

Please help!

Thanks

Probably the best website to find out about playing TV on your computer is thru Hauppauge.

http://www.hauppauge.com/

You can buy the cards thru newegg to get the best prices from a reliable source.

I don't know which tuner is best, but ...

The cost of connecting it depends on your cable company, many are free now, a change from the past. There are no wireless cable connections, although you could have a remote tuner and a wireless transmitter for the composite video signal, but I doubt that is what you would really want since you would also need a way to change the station from a distance (there was a device called rabbit something which would do that). There might be a cost for the cable company to add a new outlet, just call and ask. In my area they have been good about things (bad about other things).
