I think my computer has been compromised?

Hey,

I just recently reformatted because my computer before was crashing, slow, and just extremely screwed up. I recently just bought a new external 300gb HDD to back up all my data. I think my computer has been compromised because it still randomly crashes every now and then and it randomly becomes unstable. One time after playing bridge builder, All the apps failed to execute...every single one, and my MSN was frozen, along with everything else in the system tray. This was only a one time thing so far tho.
