cannot get macromedia flashplayer to stick

My daughter's sites (playhousedisney and nick jr) keep saying that i need to download the latest version of macromedia flash player and/or shokwave before i can acess their site. I've gone thru the download process for both many times and it says that the downloads have been completed but the sites still say that I need to download them. Im guessing that its something stupid that im doing wrong but i cant figure out what. Can you help me?
