I read through the thread pinned to the top of this forum, and ran each of the programs suggested, followed each with a reboot.

No I am no longer having problems.

I'm not sure how I fixed it, I ran all the spyware removal, anti-virus etc. resources I could find, and all at once it started working again.

Thanks! I have taken some steps to prevent this from happening again:

Switched to firefox
Updated to McAffee 8.0i
Turned on XP automatic updates, instead of doing it myself

Thanks so much, I thought I was screwed :tazz:
