Yahoo messenger messing up Firefox

I am trying to remove anything to do with yahoo from my computer. I have been trying to remove Yahoo Messenger with Voice. I do the typical Add/Remove thing from the Control Panel but it will not remove the program. I get the message "could not open "install.dll"

Now, when I open Firefox (version 1.5.0.7) there is a 1 inch blank box at the bottom of the screen with an orange carrot symbol ^ in it.

How can I get rid of Yahoo and get Firefox working properly again. Also if I close Firefox, I cannot re-open it when I click on any icon for Firefox. It just does nothing. I have to re-boot to open the browser.

Help?
