I just bought a Compaq Evo N610c laptop and I'm having a really hard time with it. Is there no possible way to get past it without having to get in touch with Compaq themselves because read that they won't even help unless you have all the original documentation for it.

hardly surprising since they need to be sure they aren't helping someone who's stolen it (or bought it from someone who stole it). Have you tried tracing it back to the original owner?
