getting message -- "windows encountered a problem trying to copy this file"

i am trying to copy a file off c drive to cd/dvd drive;

how do i figure out if hardware is is broken

Is there already information on the CD you are tryingto brun to? Do you have a CD Burner (CD RW Drive)?

I dont think you can copy everything off the C: Drive to the CD. Most of the computer has at least 10GB worths of files. And most of the CD-R disc can only hold like 800MB of files.

cd/dvd drive is write/rewrite; the drive contains a blank dvd

Are you sure it's a DVD burner? Or just a CD burner?
