wifi problems

Hi I have a problem with my internet connection on my laptop. the status shows me that I am connected, speed is 54.0 mps and the signal is good. However, under activity "sent"packets are 1344 etc but recieved are 0. So I am unable to connect to any website. Presently I am using a cable to make the connection. Can anyone help me please?

Have you checked to make sure that all the security aspects have been set correctly? Access can be limited by the hardware address and also encryption can be used. If this is not set correctly, then the machine will be able to make contact, but not transmit any data.
