:whistling: This forum has been a great help but I am having problems still.

I have read and learned much.

Error meessage is Unmountable Boot Volume.

Machine will not boot in safe mode. I have been to recovery console and tried to run chkdsk. Chkdsk will not run as I get a message asking for location of Autochk.exe.

I have tried to answer with C:\WINDOWS\System32 . THis does not work.

Would appreciate any help in getting chkdsk to run so that maybe some startup errors could be repaired.

Was really trying to avoid using system recovery disks. Of course my refurbished computer did not come with a Windows XP disk. Currently using 6 floppys to boot up inop computer.
