1. I've been getting the Data Execution Prevention message for Windows Explorer every few minutes. I just added Windows Explorer to the exceptions list for DEP, so I think this one is fixed (for now).
2. At a random moment, my computer will suddenly "blank out": it reverts to the desktop, with all icons and the taskbar hidden, then brings them back after a moment. It does not happen all the time, but once it starts, it continues every minute or so until I restart the computer.
3. Although I've switched to Firefox, I've been getting popups through IE from places like exitexchange.com and cheaptickets.com. I have a feeling that this is software-related, because the popup windows come up even when I'm not connected to the Internet. Ever since I used the DEP fix from symptom #1, however, I've been getting popups where the URL is some random IP number...
4. I have more recently been getting popups from places like Spydoctor, which I have read up about and found was a kind of malware.
5. This problem might be unrelated to the others, but recently, occasionally in Firefox, whenever I try to type an apostrophe in one of these text boxes (like the one I am typing in right now), the search word function comes up, and I cannot use apostrophes anymore (It just happened again at this moment, which is why this paragraph is devoid of apostrophes, although it worked on the earlier text).
I use Ad-aware regularly, but it hasn't stopped the popups. I've tried downloading Ewido's AVG anti-spyware, but it won't install (it keeps stalling indefinitely at the /contents part of installation). I've tried Spybot: Search and Destroy, but the updates won't work (while updating, it skips all the update files, saying "bad checksum"). In short, I've tried all that I could by myself to solve this problem, and I've come to my wit's end.
