I have been trying for days to get rid of whatever it is I have! I first noticed a problem when I used my Symantec to scan a downloaded file before opening. It said 'Completed' and nothing was found so I opened it - it flashed something like a bad TV station so I closed it and deleted it but when I tried to use my "Scan with" function again, it wouldn't open up Symantec. I ran a system scan and it found nothing so I tried to use Housecalls (Trend Micro) and as it was finishing up the scan (had listed several security updates I was missing but I have my Microsoft set to download updates automatically) and a few other Adwares it would all of a sudden just close the browser window. I tried several times to run it again and sometimes I wouldn't even be able to get to the scanning portion before the browser would lockup or just close. I also tried running the online Symantec Scan and it would freeze up also. No other online functions are causing problems - only system scans. I found your site, followed all of the rules and ran all of the items listed on your 'before posting a hijack this log' page too. Everything ran ok and a few things were found and removed, but I am still unable to run any online scans! Trend Micro is still finding things, but never makes it to the removal portion of the scan before the browser window just closes. Some of the things it has listed (besides the missing Microsoft security files that won't seem to install) are the following:
