hello

i am wishing to upgrade my current processor (2.66Ghz Intel Celeron D) - POOR

i know i know

my mobo has a socket 478 and i was just wondering that if i did buy a Pentium 4 3GHz with HT, would i have to format my hard drive or can i just fit it and then get going?

Take the old processor out and drop the new one in. Make sure that your new processor is for Socket 478 though, otherwise it won't fit.

Once installed, power it up and have fun. You need do nothing else.

You need to check on your motherboard to see if it supports HT technology. Many motherboards that come with celeron processors do not have the 800 bus that supports HT. Very few 533 bus systems support HT.

yeah have checked in my BIOS and there is an option which can be enabled to activate hyper threading technology
