I am running Windows ME on a Dell L866r desktop. I have had my computer for approx. 5 years. I recently
decided to subscribe to Verizon DSL. I purchased a Belkin network card and that's when the problems began.
Each time I successfully install the adapter ard the CDROM uninstalls itself. I've tried to re-install the cdrom approx. 10 times. Device manager asks for a driver for a Mitsumi cd-rom controller with a double speed drive and requests I search for C:\windows\inf\adapter but even when it finds it the drive refuses to work.
I searched the registry last night and found the brandname for a DIFFERENT cdrom "hl-dt-st-cd-rw gce-8160 b. Belkin customer service told me to re-install windows me. My friend has advised me to upgrade to Windows xp but I'm too stubborn to give up.
Please HELP!!!
