What I mean about Limewire,if you downloaded anything from there and are currently using it.

This could be the cause of errors or reinfection.

Limewire is the biggest crap magnet around.

Download GMER from Here

Right Click the Zip and Select "Extract All"

Double Click gmer.exe to launch the program.

Click on the Rootkit Tab and then click Scan.

It takes a while to run, once complete, copy the results to notepad and save them somewhere safe.

Post those results in the next reply.

Same problems as my first post. When i access d: and browse through after a while it shows up with the explorer.exe error.
The instruction at "0x7cac1d0e" referenced memory at "0x10693af2". The memory could not be "read"

And it also shows Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Debug/Send Error Report/Don't Send

It only comes up when i access my d: which doesnt have os and just has data on it. My c: cant be accessed just fine with no crashes. I've tried scanning for viruses and malware on both discs and the d: comes up clean while there are some in c:

What is being found on C: and how much and what kind of data are we talking about on the D drive?

I am beginning to see the picture you are painting a bit clearer now.

Lets make sure we are malware free first.

The D: is 200gb, it mainly just contains multimedia files. I can't remember what was picked up in the C:. Can you recommend me some scanning programs to use.
At the moment i've only scanned with AVG and Ad-aware.

Hmmm, not sure why multi media would cause explorer to crash.

You can try DrWebs CureIt and scan both drives.

Download Dr.Webs CureIt to your desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

Double-click the drweb-cureit.exe file and allow it to run the express scan.

This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.

Once the short scan has finished, select the drives that you want to scan.

Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.

Click the green arrow > to the right and the scan will begin.

At the first infection, select 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.

When the scan has finished, click the "Select all" toggle button (if available) next to the files found

Then click the green cup icon right below and select Move incurable

This will move any infected files to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder that can't be cured (in case if we need samples).

Then, from the main Dr.Web CureIt menu (top left), click File and choose save report list
Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv

Close Dr.Web Cureit and Restart your computer to completely remove any stubborn files in reboot.

Lets see if this scanner gives us any clues.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
