Help Installing Suse

hey there
i am trying to install suse 10 on my laptop. the installation process went fine but after it is done installing and the laptop reboots, it starts loading and all of a sudden it just hangs there. the last entry i see is "System boot Control: Running etc/init.d/boot.local"

I have tried the installation DVD on my desktop and it installed and rebooted with no problem so I know there's no problem with the DVD. I also tried the Suse live dvd and the ubuntu live dvd and those didn't work neither. the only live dvd that seemed to have worked was the knoppix one but that one only worked once and when i tried to use it again, it would hang when it was loading the cd. I also tried turning off usb legacy and acpi but it still doesn't work.

so i was wondering if you guys can help me out. here's the specs to my laptop.

HP Pavilion ZE4400
AMD Athlon XP 2200
1.79ghz
512MB Ram
40gb hdd

hey guys
i finally got suse to work. when i was installing it, i unchecked the laptop package when i was selecting the software i was planning to install on my computer. thanks guys.
