hey all, little problem/question..somehow my bro managed to delete like half the desktop backgrounds available under properties and I can't seem how to put them back in the list ..like basically only 10 or 11 are listed under desktop backgrounds but before i had like 15-20 stock XP backgrounds ..doesn't XP come with like 20 stock background choices? also how do I get these back do I have to download them from somewhere or ? also, i've tried system restore to no avail

yea not there, and i just found out from my bro that what he exactly did is he went to the theme box and selected *my current them (modified)* then pressed delete..would that cause it? also how many stock backgrounds does XP come with pre installed? thanks for your help

Check your recycle bin again and make sure you are set to show hidden files

I did w/ hidden files showing..nothing.. but like i said in my prev. post about what my bro told me how he most likely did it is

..how would I fix that?since he deleted it from the theme box..also how many stock desktop background come installed with XP? is it 20?

I saw how he deleted it that is why I said to check the recycle bin with unhidden. Most odd that they did not go in there.
If system restore did not fix it then I doubt if SFC would fix it.
I am still researching.
In the drop down box have you clicked on the more themes online button. It might not get back all your original themes but will give you more.
Don't forget that the theme folder that was deleted was modified which means it is not part of the original windows set up
as you cannot delete original windows themes.

yea its confusing me also..i'm missing stock XP 1's like Azul ..i checked my other comps in the house and they have some like azul which I don't have and know for a fact did have on here before he did this and thanks 4 researching it anxiously await your findings

why don't you try and get them from the other computer

You can use Search and put in themes
Or you can use a skin program
XP Skins
Other then that try an SFC scan (doubt it it works on themes but worth a try)
or a repair.
They are a bit drastic for just some background pics.
