I have a Maxtor One Touch 250gb external harddrive that I am borrowing from work. It works fine with USB 2.0, but it will not work with firewire on account of the drivers not being installed (so says the error message). The CD containing the drivers can't be found at work, so I am hoping to be able to download them somehow.

The Maxtor website lists several downloads for this HD, but none of them are specifically labeled as driver(s). Most of them are software application designed to assist you in backing up data.

Does anyone know of a way to obtain these drivers online?

Hi, can I get the exact error message that is displayed, this should help me diagnose what the actual needed drivers are.

on the maxwell site there is the direct contact by email too, they would then point you to the right drivers

look on the external harddrive, see if the is an sn number or similar, paste that number in the search bar of the driver download section of the site
