You guys helped me a while back with a trojan on my computer. I recommended this site to my mother in law. She asked if I could help her out. Evidently her son has downloaded something that affected Firefox and other things. I removed firefox and reinstalled, but it still stops working completely. I went ahead and downloaded IE 7 for her so she could get on the net, but would like to get to the root of the problem. I tried the Ewido software, Adaware and the ATf cleaner. Anyway, could someone look at the HJT log and see if you could help her out.

Hi Nuttman69,

I don't see anything strange in your log.

Let's see if a Rootkit scan turns up something:
  • Surf to: Sophos free tools: Anti-Rootkit
  • Click the "Download" button
  • Read the conditions and fill out your Details.
  • Click the Download Sophos Anti-Rootkit link.
  • Save the sarsfx.exe to location on your harddrive where you can find it later on.
Installing
  • Close as many applications as possible and execute sarsfx.exe by doubleclicking it.
  • Accept the EULA and install the software to the loaction of your choice.(Default is C:\SOPHTEMP)
Running for analysis
  • In that folder find and double-click sargui.exe
  • Select the areas that you want to scan for hidden objects (Running processes, Windows registry, Local hard drives)
  • Click Start > Run and copy this command into the window %TEMP%\sarscan.log and click OK to execute.
  • A textfile will open. Post the content of that file.
