This is an interesting problem....I hate when I can't figure something out :-D

Just want to make sure on one thing....you did already try going into msconfig and get rid of the startup items? You can select the Diagnostic startup option and it will pretty much do it all for you.

Sorry if you already done this....just trying to figure out whats going on.
