I try to insert pictures into a publisher project I am doing. I know how to insert a jpeg picture from file. However, when I do that, all I get is a square with the resizing spots but no picture is visible. What is wront, and how can I correct this problem? I am running Publisher 2002. No other applications are running. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried dragging the handles to see if the image appears? It's also possible that the jpeg file is too large for Publisher to import (earlier versions definitely had a problem with file-sizes as I recall), so try reducing file-size in a photo-editor by using higher compression, then try it again. It's not the physical size of the image which is critical, but the size of the file itself.

Tried it, with no results. The pictures are not that big, and I have not had any problems before! I have them down to a 4 x6, and still no picture is seen, just the box with handles.

Just another thought -- where are you sourcing the files from? can you insert a picture from Publisher's own clipart gallery?

I was thinking along the lines of if you're importing from somewhere else, the jpeg may have been saved as a 'progressive' jpeg which appears gradually on-screen. Publisher may not be able to handle this type.
