First off, we need you to either renew McAfee or download a free anti-viral product and update it. AVG/Grisoft has a good one.

If you decide to install a new product, please uninstall McAfee.

Do that, run a scan and report back to me with a new hijack this log.

OK - I have to be out of town till the 20th. I will follow up with you. Thank you so much for the attention you have given - I was really bummed and lost.
I am looking forward to completing the repairs and knowledgably preventing this from occurring again. this has proven to be very interesting!

How is it running? I don't see any problems in the Hijack This log.

If it's still not running well, do a free virus scan from Panda. Use Internet Explorer to download it. Post the results below.

Is it just at startup or when you're trying to open a program at start-up?

At start up. I guess the only thing would be any programs may be starting in the background, like grisosft...But this message has occurred before I installed grisoft..
I wil look tonight to see if any applications are set in the config, sys.

I read on another forum that they downgraded to IE5 and the problem went away. This isn't really my area of knowledge. You can post in the 98 forum. Start a new topic and tell them that I sent you over there and that you are clean. Make sure you provide a link to this thread.

I would still run that panda scan and post the results here. :tazz:

I ran panda, no wait, I uninstalled ie6 sp1, re-installed ie sp1, then did an online panda scan. Then downloaded panda with ie6. Online Panda fond 158 infected files - mostly spyware, adware and panda did not disinfect these, though I can run with this as they are not critical to the health of the pc. or remove each one, one at a time (sa described at the Panda site).
12 actual virused files were disinfected. There is stil one or two "VBS.psyma" files that were not disinfected. I have yet to run the Panda I downloaded. That got me to abot 3 AM. last night, and I forgot to post the pand scan. I will do that tonight.
Thanks for following up!! :tazz: ;)
