When I got my Tecra I gave my ThinkPad 760E to my little brother. Now I have a 10GB HD that was in the Tecra, but I upgraded it (the one that's in the thinkpad is only 2.1GB). It's just sitting in my bedroom. I was wondering how the heck you dissasemble the HD caddy in the ThinkPad... It doesn't look fun :-\

If anyone could find me instructions it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :whistling:

Scroll down the page till you see the blue link entitled "Go to removal and installation instructions for the hard drive of your Thinkpad system".
(it's under section 2 - "Reseat the drive").

Well I managed to get the old drive out of the caddy and the new drive in. But I've run into a problem. Before I tell anymore the original drive is an IBM DCRA-22110 and the one i'm replacing it with is an IBM DARA-212000

I got it in, and started up off of a boot disk. I went into FDISK and in only recognized the first 8GB, which did not surprise me at all. I partitioned it, and then restarted the computer. Now it freezes every time you start up off of the floppy disk before it can do anything. It starts to read the floppy like normal, makes normal floppy drive noises (lol) for about 10 seconds, and then freezes, with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner. The light on the floppy drive stays on and the drive continues to spin. It doesn't do this with the hard drive removed nor does it do it when the old hd is in. What's the problem? I downloaded Hitachi's Disk Feature tools and altered the size of the drive to 8GB, to no avail. Nonetheless it boots fine off of that disk (EDIT: the DFT disk that is), just not apparently a Windows 98 startup disk (???) i'm confused... I'm going to try partitioning the drive in my laptop and seeing if that works... and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
