Sounds like something may be wrong with your onboard as well, but it's probably a bad motherboard over all.

Step 4 is the important one

Step1 :

Switch on the system. Hold down DEL key to enter BIOS Setup Menu.

Step2 :

Confirm date setting.

Step3 :

Check CPU speed setting and other boot up peripheral settings.

Step4 :

Hold down F5 to enter BIOS Setup Default. Hold down F10 to save and exit BIOS Menu and reboot PC.

Step5 :

Check whether the system will boot up properly.

Usually you enter set up with the delete key, or it will say which key on the first screen

Whichever key it is, keep tapping it until it enters set up

If he gets a no video beep on POST, then POST doesn't complete, and there's no chance to get into BIOS...

Hmm...I may have stumbled across something. What type and size of RAM do you have in the machine right now?

according to the asus website this is using an award bios..which means there's no standard on the beep codes but research suggests taht the 1 short 2 long still points to a vga error http://www.bioscentr...s/awardbeep.htm

I stumbled across a forum post in which another user had this board, and it turned out to be a memory issue. Since the alternative is "replace your motherboard," I thought it might be worth a shot.
