I was preparing to do a clean reinstall of xp pro tonight.
Went to the MSI web site and found that they have an online BIOS and driver updater.
So of course I mindlessly wandered where I shouldn't have and performed the upgrades.
My pc is now about as stable as a cracked egg shell.
Programs, such as Prevx, turn on and off by themselves.
I lose the desktop icons.
I boot up and get the MSI ATI icons on a large black screen then am taken to another screen asking if I want to continue-press F1.
I contacted MSI. If I ever buy anything from them I hope somebody shoots me. They sent me an email stating that I should contact emachines for help. Maybe they could have said that before I used their free end user program.
I have an emachines T-6212 pc w/XP Pro, SP2, AMD 3200+ 2ghz. MSI motherboard is MS-7093.
I'm hoping somebody can help me either with a better upgrade or to go back to hwere I was.
I'm definitely very new to pcs but can usually follow directions.
Thanks.
J.

Yes, the fact that the machine is an eMachines says it all. It's an adapted MSI board for eMachines which is based on the original board but isn't designed to take the original board BIOS, which you should have got from eMachines website.

Best solution is to go to eMachines site, find a BIOS from then for your machine and flash it back and see if the issues clear up.
