Hi,

as the title suggests, I don't think this is a very serious problem, but I have this file "__rzi_11.328" on my desktop. I don't know how it got there, what it is, does etc. I know nothing about this file. I have searched Google for the name, to no avail, I have even tried deleting it. When I do so, it says it is in use by another program, but I don't know how to find out which one.

I know this isn't a killer virus or anything remotely dangerous, but is there any help you can give me? There's just this unknown file on my desktop, apparently doing nothing but get in the way and refuse to be budged!

I think you might just have a file, that isn't really there - it happened to me a few times, where the information wasn't downloaded correctly, turning into a 0 mb file.

What I'd usually do, is clean it from DOS:



Go to Start->Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt

Then in the Command Prompt, go to the directory where that file is.

Then ctrl+alt+del to open the Task Manager, then turn off the explorer.exe; then inside the Command Prompt, delete the file from there.

another way to get rid of non cooperating files is to make a new folder...name it junk or whatever...move the file there...then right click on the folder and one of your options is to delete the whole folder...

What I'd try is stopping all the processes that you know aren't vital to windows ... kill everything aside from those processes and you're bound to stop the one using that file. Or, at least by logic you will.

...they have a nice quick and dirty wee prog that will identify running progs in an instant and then when you double click on them...DEAD!

Wait until you are not doing anything to experiment with it, and you have nothing to lose by mucking about...start with the obvious ones at the bottom of its list, the ones you recognize, until you get a feel for how it's used. Leave the ones at the top, as they are the important ones, and not to be touched...

I am just a lowly hobby-beta-tester, what do I know...StopIt has served me well through EVERY version of Windows, and still does, ...in XP.
