When I bought my new Dell PC 2 months ago. It was very fast. 1 Gig Memory 1.8Ghz and I played NBA live in full graphics mode. When I got these crazy spyware/malware now its running like an 80 year old virgin. I've been unsuccessful trying to get rid of what i need to get rid of. I've got hijackthis, VGA Anti-spyware. Hi Thanks Sam.

Nothing else aside from slowness. I think AVG might have helped, and I also tried the regedit.fix that I saw in one of the threads. But when the computer boots up, the icons still show very slowly especially the sys tray. When i go to the internet it is a bit faster now, but still my old laptop 5 years 1.7 GHz, 640 MB is much faster than this brand new one which is 1.83Ghz 1G.

Also I used to play a lot faster with nba live, not it is a little bit choppy. Do you think two anti-virus could also be the culprit? I read it somewhere. I got symantec 2005 and AVG both installed. Should i remove one of them?

No doubt about it. Running two antivirus programs at the same time will cause your computer to run slow, and could cause other problems as well.

If you want to speed it up, you should consider uninstalling Norton and keeping AVG. Norton is a huge resource hog.

okay i dont see any difference. the reason why im suspecting these two is that they never go away even if i remove them from msconfig. can i never remove them? i should be able to shouldnt I? also these could be copy cats of cftmon or NvCpl as they reside in windows system32. is there a way i can remove them at startup? i want to minimize what i load at startup to try if it will make the bootup faster. im using msconfig cleanup or manually run msconfig but it always goes back.

If you really want to disable NvCplDaemon, follow these steps.

Click Start -> Run -> services.msc
Double-click on the 'Nvidia Display Driver Service' and select the Disable option under the 'Startup Type' box, then click OK.

Then if you fix that line with hijackthis, or control it with msconfig it should stay.
