when I shutdown, it says that there are updates to be installed...it says that it's installing update 1 of 1 and not to shut down the computer but it just hangs there and doesn't shut down...any ideas?

Maybe it's just doing it's thing, installing updates?

Or do you mean it does this every time you turn off your machine?

try doing a simple cleaning using disk clean-up go to all programs

find that in accesseries under system tools

then clean out your prefetch folder from start >>run>>prefetch>>click ok

then go to edit and select all

on any blue file click delete

then go to my computer>>open c:drive>>open windows folder>>look for windowsupdate>>should show as note pad empty it or delete all

reboot then try updates again
