Greetings,
I have played EQ2 since launch on a Sony VAIO laptop without any problems. Several months ago, I suddenly started having issues with "lag". The game plays normal for about 5 min or so, then the refresh rate seems to drop to near nil. It does this for about a min then pops back to normal for the next five min or so.

During this I checked my performance in task manager, it says I am using 100% of the system CPU. I am not sure what would have changed, this laptop has always played the game exceedingly well.

Things I have done.

Cleaned all spyware and viruses off the system.
Tried a restore point before the problem began.
Tried a complete system reload.
Cleared out my temp folders and worthless gunk (using disk cleanup)
Tried to defrag, it said it was unessisary. did it anyways.
Tried to update my video driver. (may have botched that one)

The system

Sony VAIO
intel centrino 1.86 ghz
1 gig ram
80 gig harddrive, about 60 gig free
windows xp home, service pack 2
ATI mobility Radeon x600, using omega drivers.

Thats what I know. Any help is greatly appreciated. :whistling:
