Hello

Any recommendations for anti virus software needed and which works with Vista?

I have tried Avast, AVG, NOD32 none of which work with Vista build RC 5600

Any suggestions why?

Is Vista 64 bit? Is that why?

5600 is a pretty old beta. AVG works with RC2 and RTM. Also, Windows OneCare works.

:whistling:

AVG does not work? Try harder and get the latest version of it (AVG Free included). Even Microsoft has AVG as recommended on their website Microsoft approved Anti-viruses for Windows Vista

Also AVG states it on their website.

Avast home has worked fine for me on the last few builds of Vista. You might find this thread interesting over at NeoWin.

I never realized this feature but they will all still work for Vista. Just go to the .exe/shortcut's properties then go to compatibility and select XP Home (SP2). AVG works fine.

It runs but doesnt actually work you need one made for Vista otherwise its totally useless, Vista is pretty secure anyway especially the 64bit version so youll be allright.

It needs one it can go for a long time without one especially if you are careful there isnt alot of vista malware and almost none for 64bit vista YET, but it needs its own AV most AVs are made for xp you need one made for vista an XP AV wont work very well with Vista.
