I don't know about "logs" at all, but I have the same worm as some other user who posted today. I have very old virus definitions. I tried updating with a new version of Symantec 8.0 via CD install but I get a message saying an error occurred that prevents the install. I cant access my Internet explorer (onlly browser). My desktop has been hijacked and the message "Danger: Spyware" with an ad posted. I can't get right-click menus. I ran AdAware, and will run Spybot and CWshredder next.

Am I on the right track? What steps are next? Please help.

Thanks,
jbrobins

Hi jbrobins

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
