I am running XP media Center, after dowloading IE 7, my computer worked fine for several days then ssome web pages started not opening. I cannot open the Windows update page, anything to do with Java, except for their homepage. And offline, the Help and Support won't open, System Restore and User Accounts open with just the title bar displayed. The automatic update MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update keeps trying to install but can't. Any ideas?

It sounds malware related, try posting here: http://www.geekstogo...o_Here-f37.html and click on the Click here before posting a hijackthis log

Be patient, the malware forum is a very busy place and a three day wait is normal.
