Adding another CD/DVD/RW Rom

Yes I have a HP Pavilion M7300E Media Center Desktop, and I want to put another CD/DVD/RW Rom in Can I just plug it into the other avaible IDE Port, and Plug in the power cord, and boot my computer up, and it work. it's plug in play right, and I can have two roms right, in stalled at the same time. and will it make a diffrence if they are the same kind.

Yes, you can have 2 cdrom type drives at the same time. Now i don't usually have the same type of drive twice in a computer. I used to put a cdrom and a CD_RW drive in my computers. I now put a DVD-RW and a dvd-rom drive in usually, just to save wear and tear on the DVD-RW drive as i like playing some dvd movies on my computer. My usual choice is NEC for DVD-RW's and Lite-On for dvd-rom's.

One problem i have found is the burning software seems to pick the master on a cable burner over the slave positioned burner.

I may get a slighly differant CD/DVD/RW, the one I have installed has quit reading DVD's, and want burn to a DVD disk, but it reads, and writes music, and data. So HP is sending me a replacement Drive, it may be a better brand I hope. I just thought that I would keep both installed. Thanks for the help.
