Removing desktop items/pic help

Im trying to remove a pic from my desktop and wondered if anyone can help me. I was right clicking on a picture to make it my background. Instead of clicking on the "Set as background" I clicked on "set as desktop item....". It showed up on the desktop as a small pic and I cant figure out how to delete it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
