Error Installing Windows ME OEM

i can't even do a dir command

CDR103:CDROM not high sierra or ISO-9660 format reading drive

what can i do 2 fix this?

yes i did an fdisk then format C:

I am using an WIndows ME boot disk as well

P3 processor, with a 12gig western ditigal hard drive CD rom is unknown 256 ram. i use it as a test sytem it had windows xp pro installed on it but it ran very slow so since then i have installed 95 and 98 on it successfully, but i haven't pulled it out for 6 months until today

i'm sure the erro deals with the CD rom, but the ? is what des the error mean and what do i need to correct it?

is their anything specif spec you need?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/136972 i found that on microsoft page but it doesn't apply to the os or cd rom

is there a way i can find out waht kind of CD rom drive it is so i can see about getting a firmware update? via dos or is there cause i don't see a brand on it?

Usually the bootdisk will have the CD drivers.

Try making a 98 boot disk INSTEAD and when made, choose Start computer with CD-ROM Support.

98 boot disk didn't work

i put the mscdex file on my boot floopy for me i'm going to run it and see what happens

i thinks its a promblem with the EM ISO i dled because i still get the error but the site above states that it could be a bad disk so where would i be able to find a good working CD or ISO file?

Are you trying to install pirated software? We can't help you with that. ME is still around, but is no longer supported.

IMHO, you're better off with Win98. ME was not much of an operating system.

promblem solved the error deals with either a bad CD, bad cd room, or bad cd rom driver. it turns out my cd was beyond working condition so i borrowed a friends and entered my key and all is well thanks for all you help
