Selecting Midi Device

Hi folks.

I have a brand new laptop and have installed Cakewalk Hme studio 2003. i want to edit a midi file. But when I play it theres no sound, it asks to select midi device but there are none to select!

Yet I can play midis with itunes and media player. Any suggestions?
