Computer is running great the only thing is that it still won't shut down on it's own, it makes the noise but just wont turn off. I have to hold the on button down for a few seconds.

another quick question when I delete prevx1 a msg comes up saying it must be in use which it is at the moment if I delete it will it remove it completly from my computer.

Yeah still no luck not shutting down on it's own maybe I have to live with it,

Hold tight jme. I'll see if anyone else has any ideas. I'm not seeing anything that should cause it. Maybe it's a hardware problem or maybe a setting I'm not familiar with.

Hello again jme. Got a question for you.

Are you getting the screen that says "It is now safe to shut off your computer"? If so, try this link provided by ~Mark. If it doesn't, then what exactly does it do?

Let me know. I've got some others looking in on this one.

Hi Again.

I do the normal shut down steps go to start - turn off computer - turn off then is says logging off then the next screen says windows is shutting down it is this screen that is gets stuck on. I can hear the computer running but it just wont turn off on its own it will stay like this until I either press the reset button or hold the on button for a few seconds then it will turn off.

Hi jme.

Let's get a new Hijack This Log and I want to get rid of one of those services to see if that is perhaps the culprit.

A little more time intensive method that may be called for is to disable processes one by one using MSConfig and shutting down after each ine tho see if we can find which one's hanging you up. But we can cross that bridge in a minute.

Also, do you know if you have any automatic updates turned on? For Windows maybe? Or anything else?
