Hi Geeks to Go!,

I know this is an issue that has been approached before but I've followed the steps on the other posts and my WinMoviePlugIn keeps coming back. I've already run my antivirus (TrendMicro Internet Securty 11 - No findings), AdAware (No Findings) and Ccleaner (Keeps finding the WinMoviePlugIn stuff but it keeps coming back). I'm on a network here and Internet is continually connected.

I've pasted the Logfile of HijackThis below if it helps.

Hello Martin(o) and welcome to the GTG forums. After reviewing your log I see a couple of items that require our attention. Please proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Time Sync] C:\Programmi\Time Sync\time.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Olympic] C:\Documents and Settings\DAVIS Martin\Dati applicazioni\sgrunt\IE4321.exe
O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A3C9-08002B2F49FB} - http://www.sgrunt.biz/closer/close.exe

I believe that this is the culprit for reinstalling the WinMoviePlugin. It is a multimedia desktop alert system that can bring any type of media to your desktop. If you installed this product then leave it. Otherwise select this item and uninstall SkySports.O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SkySportsCluster] C:\Programmi\Sky Alerts\skinkers.exe
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #2

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\Programmi\Time Sync\ <--folder
C:\Documents and Settings\DAVIS Martin\Dati applicazioni\sgrunt\ <--folder
C:\Programmi\Sky Alerts\ <--folder (if you removed the application)

Next, let's clean up the temporary folders:* Click Start
* Point to Programs
* Point to Accessories
* Point to System Tools
* Click Disk Cleanup
* Select the following items that are present and then click the OK button.* Temp Setup Files
* Downloaded Program Files
* Temp Internet Files
* Debug Dump Files
* Office Setup Files
* old chkdsk files
* Recycle Bin
* Temp Remote Desktop Files
* Setup Log Files
* Temp Files
* WebClient temp files
[/list]Step #3

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Post your new log file back here using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.
