Is it normal to have to disable firewall when downloading Windows Live Messenger. Also after download is saved to disk, the download disappears, just goes away and no download is done.

I woudnt say it is normal
im by no means a computer expert but i would check for spyware or virus's just to be sure
i didnt have any problems with mine

im curious
what firewall are you using?

Where did you download Windows Live Messenger? Did you purchase it at a store in a disk or did you download it off the internet?

I advise you to run an anti-spyware and/or malware and/or anti-virus scanner on your PC. If it doesn't find anything, remove everything Windows Live Messenger related from your PC and re-download it.

I noticed that when downloading Windows Live Messenger, that the dialogue box which appears does not indicate a "download" but an "install.exe" operation. Is this the normal procedure.?

alright i went to msn.com to download it and the box i get says save file and the file is Install_Messenger.exe
hope that helps
