:D Hello again, :D

Well yesterday was a big day.
I got the new computer, and I have been having my hands full trying to get things put together.

One thing I have noticed and called IBM about is that my monitor has one itybity red pixel showing on the monitor screen....all the time.

This is the answer...these types of monitor are prone this this...this is the technology thing??? Now what does that really mean?
Anyway, IBM would replace my monitor if I had " 8" plus pixels showing. However I can within one week, return my complete pc, if disatisfied! Wow... :D

Actually this one pixel does not really distress me, I'm more worried about the future of the monitor? Does this start with one then two. then 10 pixels when the warranty is done with?

<_< :D :P Please.

Otherwise I'm very pleased, boy is a flat 17" screen look different than a 15 CRT monitor!
Music sounds good, but really strange Windows Media Player Skins.
I also need to contact my internet provider to help sort my e-mail out...but I can't complain, I'll eventually get settled in.

Thank you, hope for helpful insights.

Hello Maddie,
What is the brand/model of your monitor?
If i was you i go to www.google.com and do a search on your monitor. This would let you know if other poeple have had problems like you have.
Also check to see if there are any new drivers to fix this bug. And IBM should replace your monitor if it is brand new!!! you bought it out of good faith that it would work fully and with out bugs!!!

Hi again Maddie!

Don't you love :D that new computer smell! :D

Unfortunately, it's very common for LCD displays to have stuck pixels. Your monitor probably has in the neighborhood of 13 million pixels! Even modern manufacturing has difficulty achieving 100% perfection. Very few mfg will offer to replace a monitor for one stuck pixel. However, there are exceptions, red is a particularly noticeable color, and it depends where it's at on the screen. If it near the center you should be able to get it replaced. Just ask for a supervisor when you call (CSR's have no authority to offer a replacement), and explain the situation. <_<

Because of the way they're measured, a 17" LCD is like viewing a 19" CRT. :P

For email, your SMTP and POP3 settings should both be mail.yourisp.com, then use your logon: name@yourisp.com, and your password.

Good morning,

Goodness its good to get such a quick, and indept answer. One thing though this time I was not notified via e-mail that an answer had been posted? I wonder why?

About the monitor....one thing that worries me.. if IBM did exchange this monitor what if I get a worse one?

At least with this one I know what is there, and how many, plus it really does not distress me, at least not that much! So should I just bite the bullet so to speak?

What does concern me is.."[Will this pixel thing get worse"?]

Also I called my salesman about it, he quickly dumped this problem on the 24-7 help people line, who when I called them said no this was not really their problem, etc. I called the salesman back, but got no call back! You know the routine!

Plus we all know this is not like dealing with Wal-Mart, there is no real customer service here. :D

I agree red is a powerful color, but I now know the size of a pixel....LOL

Thank you also for your e-mail help.

One more concern...programs that I have ( old stuff ) which only states for Windows 95, 98, M., etc.
Are these usable on this new pc? Old games and work programs.

Also how come there is only one bay for CD or DVD.... is that the norm?

All in all yes I <_< my new pc! But I have much to learn though.

Again, thank you for your help, advice, everything.
Sincerely,

Maddie

Probably not, usually these stuck pixels are formed in the manufacturing process, they rarely show up later.

As far as if you'll get a monitor with a worse problem--that's always a possibility. You'll have to decide for yourself how much it's going to bother you. If it were me, I'd take my chances on a replacement. Red is too obvious and it would bug me everytime I looked at it. :D

Pretty sure it's not on our end, your email may not be setup properly, or your ISP might think it's spam. <_<

Shouldn't be much of a problem, if there is a problem try the compatabity wizard (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Program Compatability Wizard)

Very common. :D

Hello again,

My thanks to you for your answers to my many questions.

I did not get an e-mail when you posted so I quess it may be thought to be spam...
I did get a real blizzard of unwanted e-mail last week and had to get in touch with my internet provider, that may be the problem.

I keep trying different backgrounds to see if that red pixel of mine is worse or soso...well at present it seems most noticalbe with a blue background, except on my favorite one of the sailboat, sand island, and palm trees. The red pix is in the crook of the right hand leaves, middle tree.... any way the background is called "Azul"

Please forgive if I don't seem to have it all together right now, but I am bushed.
Just finished some painting, ( of the walls ), making dinner etc.

So I'm of to nap, and will check for news later.
Have a nice afternoon.
Sincerely,
Maddie

Hello again,

Well had a nap and feel normal again.

I called IBM, the salesman this time, and he now informs me that a new monitor will be sent to me, and IBM will pay for the return of this one.

I'll let you know what happens, X your fingures that no wild pixels show up on the next monitor. Please?

I thought it was pretty wild to be told that my monitor had to have at least 8 pixel showing before an exchange was made. Gads this was just bought.

I LOVE WAL-MART! <_< Service, and no lip!

Well time for me to go again, but wish you a pleasant evening.

Maddie :D

Hello, hello, hello,

What can I say now?

I got the new monitor, guess what?
This time I have one BLUE PIXEL, at the bottom left hand side of the screen.

What are you going to do?
Keep the blue pixel one, and make the best of this kind of monitor. :D !

Consider this lifes little moments, and get on with the show.

What would you do?
Blue or red?

Look forward to your feed back.

sincerely,
Maddie who :o her pc!

Good morning to one and all!

Thank you so much for your posts.

Yes Monday AM I will call IBM and let them know that this monitor is still not "perfect".
The only thing I'm afraid of is that they will decided to call me "DIFFICULT", and start dragging their butts when I need anything from them.
Lets face it fellows, I'm a coward, and loath confrontation, plus I know the world is NOT perfect!

Anyway like I said I will let them know, and in the mean time, I have decided to keep this monitor, the one blue pixel totally disappears once you get things going.
I see it as I boot up, and when closing. :D [the rest of the time I don't really look for it] :D

Thank you for your "SPIRITED RESPONSE"! You are the kind of guys everyone wants on their team.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Maddie <_<
