See if you can get it to look in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

ok im in (look in archive) windowsi cant see service pack files
i can see cursors, debug, download installations, driver cache ect....

You're in the Windows folder...the ServicePackFiles folder is in there somewhere...or should be.

I'll see if I can find it on an installations cd.

Look in the System32 folder for clbcatq.dll

im in system32 and there are lots of folders in there should i go into each folder to find it?

Click tools, folder options, view, untick hide extensions and hide protected system files

Do you have a floppy drive on both machines?

Or a burner?

I've attached the file it's looking for as a zip file. Download it and extract the file. Put it on a cd or floppy...whichever you have...and browse to it on the laptop.

i burnt to cd and put it in the laptop, looked for file on cd browsed it but nothing there, took out the cd to make sure i have burnt it correctly and on my pc it says it is on the disk.

This is getting wierd...

Let's do a parallel install and grab the data off the old install. Is there room on the HDD for two installations? We'll remove one in a bit. We'll need about 4 gigs.
