:tazz: My computer goes dormant after sitting for a while. When I turn it back on, there is no sound. If I reboot, the sound comes back on. It hasn't always done this. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. I did the trouble shooting through Windows to verify the sound card is enabled and there doesn't seem to be any hardware conflicts...but I don't know. I use Windows XP.

This is a common problem, if you mean you lose sound coming out of standby,

Most of the time, the only thing that fixes it is a new driver, or not allowing your system to go into standby, if that is an option.

Other methods that sometimes work are changing the slot the sound card is in, bios updates, or system reinstallations. Never found a satisfactory answer to this one....

Yuck. Thats not what I wanted to hear but at least I have an answer. I really appreciate it.
I'll play with it and see what happens. At least I have the option of rebooting it.

Thanks
