Problem with Windows 2000.

Turned on computer, left room, came back to a black screen. Press the return space bar and screnn came back on showing desktop for about 10 seconds. I pressed return space bar again, and desktop came back on for 10 seconds. I pressed return spacebard again, and nothing, no screen, Screen is black, not blue.

"Tada" Microsoft sound is heard, but no screen.

Screen saver is disabled.(none)

Regards and Merry Christmas

I am not entirely acquainted with this system, but reboot is done through modem. When modem is turned on, two lights are supposed to light up, but only green light, lights up and not the red. Screen does not come on, and no startup beep, or winidows startup sound does not emit from computer.

Have you tried safe mode

Turn off computer>> Then turn back on >> press F8.
Using the arrow keys, highlight the option "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" , then press Enter.

Hi waynf...

Try an Inplace upgrade (repair install). It's accomplished the same way as the XP Repair install.

If you have any problems, give us a shout.
