Hello Dear snezzlebear,

ZA is free, but you can have PRO version for only 2 weeks . And features given are not the same.
did you get the Free or the Pro version ?
you were badly infected, i don't want you to play with all scanners but have a check here:

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
please, give me another HijackThis log too.

About your games's forum, just try ro register again.

I tried to download the free version but for some reason it wouldn't let me so I download the pro instead. I'll give the free one another try.

Also for some reason I can't open any hyperlinks =/

Umm I can't get Kapersky to work :whistling: I get no promt to install ActiveX at all

I also got this weird error when I tried to bookmark that Kapersky sight:

Windows Internet Explorer

Unable to create 'Free Virus Scan - Kapersky Lab':
Catastrophic failure

This doesn't sound good at all

Hello snezzlebear,

still some bad traces.

Go to Start >> Run and type cmd then type or copy & paste this into the Run box:

sc stop r_server
then hit Enter

next, type or copy & paste this into the Run box
sc delete r_server
then hit Enter
then type Exit or close the Run box.

Open HijackThis. Do a scan .
Close all programms leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark against the following (if present):

O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfar...tup1.0.0.15.cab
O23 - Service: Remote Administrator Service (r_server) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\r_server.exe" /service (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files (if present):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\r_server.exe

You have already downloaded the Hoster.
  • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster.
  • Run Hoster.exe from its new home
  • Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
  • Click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
  • Click the X to exit the program.
  • Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.
We are going to run System File Checker, to make sure all of your protected files are not corrupt.
The scan will automatically replace any corrupt files that it finds.

Click Start
Select Run
At the prompt type sfc /scannow Please note that there is a single space between sfc and /scannow.

Typing this will start the program, and a box should appear telling you how much longer the process should take.

Sometimes the scan will prompt you for your Windows XP disc upon starting the scan.
If this happens please make sure that you can view protected files:My Computer
Tools
Folder Options
View
"Uncheck" Hide protected operating system files.
Then rerun the scan. If this still asks you to put in your windows XP CD, and you do not have the CD (If you bought it preinstalled) post back for more tips, otherwise enter Windows CD.
Once the scan is complete:
Check your Windows Updates! After using the File Protection Service, you might need to reapply some updates.
Please reboot, and let me know if anything has changed.

Are you the lonely user on this PC ?

Please redo a scan with HijackThis and post the log,
thanks,

tirol.

I couldn't find this one in the scan:

O23 - Service: Remote Administrator Service (r_server) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\r_server.exe" /service (file missing)

nor could I find this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\r_server.exe

I tried to run this scan only to find that my sisters boyfriend *so angry with him* hasn't even installed my copy of XP on my computer - he has installed a dodgy copy *same situatioin with my mother's computer*

It asked for some files for this cache .dll thing and we tried both XP cd's we had and the computer wouldn't recognise either. :whistling:

As for being the only used well thats debatable at times =/

This is my PC however my sisters boyfriend has put his own account on here called Admin which I cannot access in case "I" stuff the computer up. Where as it seems his dodgy handiwork stuffs it up more than I could.

I cannot afford to take this to a shop and get it repaired nor do I know how to reinstall windows. I just really want my computer to run properly w/o his dodgy work screwing it all the time.

Hello snezzlebear ,

first, sorry for being late !

what do you mean exactly with :

I tried to run this scan only to find that my sisters boyfriend *so angry with him* hasn't even installed my copy of XP on my computer - he has installed a dodgy copy *same situatioin with my mother's computer*

This is my PC however my sisters boyfriend has put his own account on here called Admin which I cannot access in case "I" stuff the computer up. Where as it seems his dodgy handiwork stuffs it up more than I could.

i figure, this account is the really first one onyour machine, and he created your account separately, as an admin also. This way you have an alternative in case of problem. Not bad, in my opinion.

Considerind the SFC scan :

It asked for some files for this cache .dll thing and we tried both XP cd's we had and the computer wouldn't recognise either.

it's remarkable from a registry entry not well declared.
That's happens very often with OEM PC (HP, DELL) where no Windows XP CD are given, only Windows applications such as Word,Works and so on... I think this is the case. Tell me if i'm wrong

Again, what do you mean by :

I cannot afford to take this to a shop and get it repaired nor do I know how to reinstall windows. I just really want my computer to run properly w/o his dodgy work screwing it all the time.

how's the machine working ?

I have a last question :
do you connect behind an ADSL box which acts as a router ? Or behind your mother's machine ?

Can you try again a Kaspersky scan ? if it does not work , try this :

download MWav to a convenient location.

This scan might take around 3+ hours to finish when set to scan everything.
I need you to run MWav by double-clicking on mwav.exe.
Put a check next to the below items before scanning:
  • Memory
  • Startup Folders
  • Drive - All Local Drives
  • Folder - then click "browse" to change the directory to C: (default is C:\Windows)
  • Registry
  • System Folders
  • Services
  • Include Sub-Directory
  • Scan All Files
Please make sure ALL of these are checked, then press the Scan button. This typically will take hours to complete.

**NOTE*** Sometimes MWav will pause and it appears to be finished, but it isn't done. Just let it run until it says it's complete.

On the bottom portion of the window, you will see the lower panel where MWav is listing "infected items". When it's done scanning, please highlight everything in that lower panel and copy them by holding CTRL + C then paste it here. The whole log will be extremely BIG so there is no way to post the log. I just need the infected items list.

Sarah , don't hesitate to use primary school english, as i'm french ! :whistling:

  • Scan All Files
Please make sure ALL of these are checked, then press the Scan button. This typically will take hours to complete.

**NOTE*** Sometimes MWav will pause and it appears to be finished, but it isn't done. Just let it run until it says it's complete.

On the bottom portion of the window, you will see the lower panel where MWav is listing "infected items". When it's done scanning, please highlight everything in that lower panel and copy them by holding CTRL + C then paste it here. The whole log will be extremely BIG so there is no way to post the log. I just need the infected items list.

Hi again snezzlebear,

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

also, please do this :
Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

and reinstall ZoneAlarm free :
http://www.zonelabs....p...=FR&lang=en

awaiting for both logs,
tirol.

I am very reluctant to install Zone Alarm again as it really made things go horrible last time I had it running
