I tried to use vba to enhance a spreadsheet but it didn't work so I
deleted it. Now every time I try to save the worksheet I get the following
message:

"Privacy Warning: This document contains macros, ActiveX controls, XML
expansion pack information, or web components. These may include personal
information that cannot be removed by the "Remove personal information from
profile properties on save" option in the Security tab of the Options dialog
box on the tools menu."

I followed the instructions here
<http://www.contextur.../xlfaqMac.html>
for removing all VBA code, but I still get the privacy warning. Is there
anything I can do to rid this spreadsheet of this "impending doom" message?
I need to move this workbook into a production environment and people are not
going to want to use it if it looks like their private information is going
to be compromised.

Thanks - Steve

p.s. - Does anyone know why even Microsoft doesn't recognize this error msg??? Search their KB for this and you come up empty...

Did you set the Macro Security level to low (in Excel, Tools, Macro, Security)?

Thanks for your help. I went as low as medium - even exiting out of Excel & reopening it to make sure the settings stuck. But since "Low" is not recommended, and since this workbook needs to be shared with others this solution would be dependent on how their security settings would be set - all this makes for a less than desireable solution. THis is a scary warning message (to my interpretation) and I think people would be suspicious of what I was passing off on them.

I am puzzled though that what I have done is really NOTHING - I went into VB Editor, entered a command, checked the results and didn't like it, then went back and erased it. Ever since then I get this message. Very strange - this CAN'T be happening to everyone who enters VBA code...

Thanks again...

Did you go through the steps to remove personal information?
1. Click "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Security" tab.
3. Check "Remove personal information from file properties on save".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
5. Resave the current document - "File" - "Save".
6. Check "File" - "Properties" to ensure the information was removed.
