hi

my external drive was dropped and now will not work...something rattling inside. my question is...is ther any way to fix this and save my data?

Yes, but it is a matter of money and what is wrong with it. If it is the actual disk, it can be very expensive. There are data recovery services that do such things.

If the disk is in a case, it might be something other than the disk, which might make it much cheaper IF the disk is still functioning. You could open the case to see what is broken, but don't open the disk if you want to recover the data. You should be able to remove the disk from the case and either install it in another case or install it in your system.
