Internet Explorer 7 Problem

When I close a file (for example, My Documents or My Pictures), a blank page appears titled "Blank Page - Windows Internet Explorer" (without the quotation marks). And in the Search Bar the following appears: "about:blank" (without the quotation marks). I use Google as my Home Page and do not use tabbing. I have tried everything I know to rid myself of this blank page; nothing has worked. This occurs whether IE7 is open or not. When I have IE7 open and close it, this blank page does not appear. Please advise me how to solve this problem.
